Technology is evolving so it's easy to say we will just capture every moment on our iPhone. The problem with that is what do you do with all those photos that are just stuck in the cloud and will only to be displayed on social media. Don't get me wrong social media plays a big part in my life as I share most of my work on my Instagram and even share my travels on there as well but after I returned from my trip those photos and memories are just stuck in an album to be looked at when it pops into my head. Also, when you spend your time looking through the lens of your phone at important moments in your life you miss experiencing that moment. That's were hiring a professional to capture those moments comes in.
Imagine celebrating a huge moment in your life and having physical portraits displayed all over as a constant reminder of that remarkable time. - You will be in your own photos. For all the moms who are on their phones taking pictures of their little ones and their partners having fun on a trip or in just day to day life, leaves the mom (or whomever is taking the photo) out of the photo. If you were to hire a professional photographer, you would be posed with your family and the moments would be there with you included instead of being in the background just capturing them. You miss a lot of moments when looking through life in your cell phone. Another thing I hear from a lot of people booking just sessions of their children is that they don't look the way they want to look and their kids would be disappointed in the way they appear. This statement breaks my heart because your family loves you as you are and you should be included in all those moments despite the way you are feeling about yourself. Life is precious and your family would love to have as many photos of you as possible.
- The quality of photos from a professional photographer is just better than the quality of the phones. I am aware that many of the new features in some of the phones seem like a good alternative to having a nice professional portrait displayed in your home. I'm here to say that more megapixels do not necessarily make a better photo. The truth is professional photographers shoot in manual with a variety of lenses that really make a difference in the final product. I'm going to show you below a photo taken with The new iPhone and a photo taken with a professional camera and you will see the difference in quality even on the digital medium. Another thing I also see is during weddings loved ones on their giant iPads flooding the aIsle and focusing on “getting the shot.” in doing this you are getting in the way of the photographer and videographer that were paid to do this and also you are not able to enjoy the moment with your loved one that invited you to bear witness to such an important day in their life. My advice is to just let us do our thing and keep your cell phone in your pocket because the shot you were blocking with your phone is a shot that the bride and groom have requested.

- A professional will help you style your session. Another thing I hear from a lot of my clients is that they have no idea what to wear or where to go for their session. As a professional photographer I know so many good spots to take you for the session. I'll even go as far as assisting you in clothing items and maybe even suggesting locations that fit you as a family and tell a better story. For example, if you spend a lot of time outside and do a lot of fishing with your family, we may do a session at the lake in more casual wear than somebody who goes to a show in the city with their family and would rather do a trendy downtown formal session.
